Our Story: Over 50 Years of Creativity

Early Video Productions traces its roots to 1973, when Jim Early founded Early & Associates in Knoxville, Tennessee. A pioneer in local television and advertising, Jim built his company on a simple philosophy: deliver exceptional creative work while maintaining personal involvement in every aspect of the process. From the beginning, his vision was to provide clients with complete advertising and production services, from the initial concept to the finished product.

Over the decades, the company evolved alongside the industry, transitioning from film cameras, print advertising, and reel-to-reel videotape to today’s world of cinematic digital production. Jim was always willing to embrace new technologies, but he understood that great advertising wasn’t simply about equipment. It was about creativity, storytelling, and connecting with an audience.

In 1989, Jim’s son, Chris Early, joined the family business, carrying forward that same passion for creativity and innovation. Following Jim’s passing in 2005, Chris continued building on his father’s legacy, expanding the company’s capabilities in commercial production, digital advertising, motion graphics, aerial cinematography, and advanced post-production.

The Early family’s contributions to East Tennessee advertising and broadcasting have earned recognition across two generations. Jim Early and both of his sons, Chris and Steve Early, have been inducted into the Knoxville Advertising Federation Hall of Fame. While Chris continues the family’s creative legacy through Early Video Productions, Steve serves as General Manager of the Vol Network. Together, their accomplishments represent a remarkable family legacy of creativity, leadership, and dedication to the East Tennessee advertising and broadcasting industry.

Today, Early Video Productions combines more than 50 years of creative heritage with the latest filmmaking technologies, including professional cinema cameras, sophisticated visual effects, and emerging AI-powered production tools. Still independently owned and operated by Chris Early, the company remains intentionally small, offering clients personal attention, creative flexibility, and hands-on involvement throughout every project.

While the technology has changed dramatically since 1973, the philosophy behind Early Video Productions remains the same: exceptional creativity, personal service, and professional results from concept to completion.
